As the Fox Cities continue to grow and welcome a diversifying, expanding population, challenges surrounding education, mental health, housing, workforce development, and income inequality become more evident and pressing to address. To ensure a healthy and equitable future, we need to expand the ways to solve these interconnected, complex challenges.

Community can be defined simply as a group of people who have something in common. At our core, humans are social beings. We have a shared need for connectedness and belonging that is deeply ingrained into our nature. Our ability to participate in a community that is bonded by attitudes, values, and goals is an essential ingredient to enjoying a fulfilling life. In fact, according to the National Culture & Community in a Time of Transformation study conducted by the

Barr Foundation, 80 percent of residents look to arts and culture organizations to support connection and learning. And 77 percent want arts and culture organizations to address social issues such as systemic racial injustice, income inequality, climate change, and political divisions.
