Developing a Superpower
Photo Opp had the opportunity to collaborate with two local non-profit organizations this Fall, FSM, and People of Progression to give a group of students ages 12 -18 an opportunity to explore the world of film photography. Beginning with learning the basics of point-and-shoot B&W film photography from our Co-Founder, Mark Ferrell. Photo Opp was able to supply each of the students with a camera and film so they could put their new knowledge to the test by capturing photos at one of Appleton’s largest protected outdoor spaces. Photo Opp then developed the film from the shoot.
FSM, an independent journal for the arts, featured the students’ journey throughout our photography project—“Developing a Superpower”. Check out the full article, here.
In December, Lawless Coffee in Appleton put up its youth art exhibit on the second floor that proudly showcases students’ prints from our workshop.
It was an amazing experience to work with two amazing local organizations while helping to develop a welcoming community and inspire life-long learning through the lens of a camera.
Thank you to our partners at FSM & People of Progression for partnering with us. We are looking forward to our next cohort in 2023!
